Ameron is a world leader in pipe technology and a principal supplier
of highly-engineered concrete and steel pipe systems in the western
United States and Canada. Strategically located Ameron manufacturing
facilities serve major population centers in California, Arizona, New
Mexico, the Pacific Northwest, Western Canada and Hawaii. American Pipe
& Construction International (APCI), a wholly-owned subsidiary, is a
principal supplier of concrete and steel pipe products in Colombia,
Chile, Peru and Ecuador.
Ameron Saudi Arabia, Ltd. (30% owned) operates three concrete pipe manufacturing plants in Saudi Arabia.
Designed to satisfy the widest range of performance requirements,
Ameron concrete and steel pipe products provide low-maintenance, long-term
conveyance for potable water and wastewater. Typical services include
high-pressure and low-pressure water transmission and distribution lines,
inverted siphons in aqueducts, sewer force mains, cooling water systems
for power plants, sewer outfalls, storm drains, culverts, liners for
tunnels and penstocks in hydroelectric generating stations.
Primary Ameron product lines include heavy-wall steel pipe and concrete
pressure pipe in diameters up to 12 feet for high-pressure and medium-pressure
applications, as well as a variety of reinforced concrete pipe products
for low-pressure and gravity-flow services. Because of advanced engineering
and manufacturing capabilities, Ameron can supply complete pipe systems
with either standard pipe or with custom-designed pipe and fittings.
Ameron typically supplies pipe to contractors that have been awarded
installation contracts by public agencies. In some cases, pipe is supplied
directly to the user.
For pipeline projects where distances from plants to jobsites are
excessive or where pipe diameters or weights preclude transportation
on public roads, Ameron can mobilize on-site pipe manufacturing plants
that can be moved to new locations as installation progresses. Such
mobile facilities have supplied pipe for major water and power plant
systems in the western United States and the Middle East.
Ameron's Water Transmission Linings Division manufactures and markets
T-Lock,® a polyvinyl chloride sheet lining that protects concrete
pipe and cast-in-place concrete structures from the corrosive effects
of sewer gases, acids and industrial chemicals. T-Lock, which celebrated
50 years of proven performance in 1997, enjoys a worldwide reputation
for unsurpassed durability under the most adverse conditions. T-Lock
technology is also being used in Ameron's new T-Hab® system for
rehabilitating existing large-diameter sewers without excavating city
streets. Arrow-Lock®, a specialized lining product for rehabilitating
manholes, was introduced late in 1996.
Another part of the Water Transmission Group is Ameron's Fabrication
Products, a business in Southern California that provides custom pressure
vessels and fabricated steel equipment for the petroleum and landfill
industries, as well as structural steel components for seismic reinforcement
of bridges and freeway overpasses. |
