Tamco, an Ameron affiliate, operates an advanced steel
mini-mill that supplies reinforcing bar to the construction industry in
the western United States. Tamco is jointly owned by Ameron, Tokyo Steel
and Mitsui & Company.
Tamco is a major producer of steel reinforcing bar for the construction
industry in the western United States. Tamco's facilities include a
melt shop that produces steel billets from scrap and a rolling mill
that converts the billets into reinforcing bar. Rebar is used for concrete
reinforcement in foundations and lift-slab construction, freeways, stadiums,
airport runways, water transmission systems and buildings.
Tamco has received numerous local and national awards for its pioneering
efforts in environmental protection and community relations. For example,
the company melts down used metal oil filters, safely burning off residual
oil, recycling the metal and solving a major landfill disposal problem.
Tamco also melts down firearms confiscated by local law enforcement
agencies, a program for which the mill has received state and federal
commendations. |
